Practitioners
Dr. Kat Hopkins
Physician | Medical Director
DO, ACOFP, IFMCP, ABIHM, ABoIM
Dr. Hopkins is double board-certified in Family Medicine and Integrative Medicine, an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner and a Fellow of the Academy of Integrative Health and Medicine. Her passion for Integrative medicine began over twenty-five years ago when she did fieldwork in Ayurvedic medicine as an Anthropology student at the University of Wyoming. It was then that she knew she desired to combine the philosophies used in Ayurvedic Medicine with the practices of Family Medicine which she experienced while growing up as the daughter of a Family Practice physician in small town Iowa. Dr. Hopkins seamlessly integrates her medical training with her focus on nutrition and the microbiome, mindfulness, movement, connection to spirit and community to optimize your health and wellbeing.
Dr. Briana Rueda
Physician
DO, MS, ABFM, IFMCP
Dr. Rueda is board certified in family medicine, an Institute for Functional Medicine Certified Practitioner, a fellowship candidate of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine, and a member of the Medical Academy of Pediatrics & Special Needs. Her life-long calling as an integrative and functional physician developed over years of experiencing the pitfalls of conventional medicine, both as a patient and as a practitioner.
Dr. Rueda strongly believes in the sacred doctor-patient relationship, with mutual respect, empathy, and healthcare autonomy. She believes no one should be punted or dismissed by a practitioner simply because they are a “tough case”. Dr. Rueda has an unquenchable thirst for knowledge, constantly researching, attending lectures, and consulting colleagues to bring unrivaled care to her patients.
Lisa Terhaar
Nurse Practitioner
APRN, CNP
Lisa attended Calvin University for her undergraduate nursing degree, and worked in hospitals in Youngstown, Ohio, as well as Denver, Colorado. After moving to Minnesota in 2003 and working in various outpatient settings, Lisa decided it was time to take the next step. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with her Master’s in Nursing in 2010, and worked for both Allina and Presbyterian Homes and Services as a nurse practitioner. Her experience providing care in traditional settings, as well as experiencing her own parent’s decline, prompted Lisa to seek further education that focused on understanding the root cause of illness, as opposed to treating symptoms of disease. This search led her to the Institute for Functional Medicine and also to training in the Bredesen Protocol for cognitive decline as well as the Wahls Protocol for autoimmune conditions. She is passionate about supporting people who are looking to optimize their health using an integrative and functional approach.
