Meet Dr. Briana
BRIANA RUEDA, DO, MS, ABFM, IFMCP
Fatigue, gas, bloating, weight gain, cold intolerance, mood changes, eczema, acne, migraines, you name it. I was working as a physician assistant in the fast-paced, assembly-line world of conventional medicine, yet I was anything but the picture of health. Fittingly, I jumped on that very assembly line myself. I saw specialist after specialist, underwent imaging and procedures, and accumulated a cabinet overflowing with medications, all to no avail. I was getting sicker, frustrated, and increasingly disillusioned with the medicine I had been trained to practice.
I realized that if I was going to get better, I needed to step outside the “norm” and embrace a completely different approach. That is when I found a local integrative medicine physician and from my very first visit, I knew my life was forever changed. I was finally given answers: Hashimoto’s hypothyroidism, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), and cervicogenic headaches. But more importantly, I was placed on a path toward wellness.
The integrative approach to health was unlike anything I had learned in my training. It was holistic. Root-cause focused. Person-centered. And it just made sense to me. I knew I could no longer practice conventional medicine in good conscience. I had experienced true healing through a different approach and knew it was my calling to share it with others.
So, I did what any courageous, passionate and borderline crazy person would do. I resigned. I returned to osteopathic medical school to deepen my clinical foundation and immersed myself in integrative and functional medicine training. It remains one of the best decisions I have ever made.
I am constantly pursuing new knowledge to quench my curiosity and to better serve my patients. My own journey with infertility sparked a passion for hormone optimization, leading me to complete advanced training in hormone replacement therapy. Looking beyond wellness and into longevity, I am currently completing a fellowship with the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine. In addition, I have a beloved neurodiverse family member, an experience that has fostered my commitment to a root-cause approach to developmental and behavioral disorders. I plan to begin training with the Medical Academy of Pediatric & Special Needs.
But more important than credentials, I strive to be a physician with whom people truly connect with. Whether it’s at the farm, my home office, or via telemedicine, it is a place of warmth and comfort, where patients can grab a drink, sink into a soft chair, and finally feel heard. Adults and children of all abilities are welcome, and I’m happy to offer virtual visits and house calls. No one should be stuck on the medical assembly line when healing is, at its heart, a unique and very personal journey.
We can get there. Together.
